“It is one of the greatest feelings known to humans, the feeling of being the host, of hosting people, of being the person to whom they come for food and drink and company.”
Secrets from a Caterer’s Kitchen
I love having friends over, enjoying their company and sharing food and drink together. Part of the fun is the preparation, whether it be planning and cooking the meal, decorating my home or making sure my garden is groomed during the summer…and I love doing all of it…yes I do have friends that call me Martha!
I’ve had a web development business (Kinetic Webs) since 1995 and the very first website I created was for recipes! I decided that if I was going to put my education to good use, a site for my passion would serve not only as a useful tool for myself but as a good example for clients. Those recipes at www.creative-culinary.com are slowly but surely being transferred to this site and I guarantee I’ll not soon recreate all of them or take photos so a lot of my older posts are photo-less! Long before food blogging became it’s own cottage industry this was a great way to store my favorites and share them with family and friends.
In 2008 I decided to start an online retail business for wine accessories, gourmet foods and unique gifts called Vino Luci. This business started from gifts I had made for friends which consisted of decorating wine bottles with lights inside and finished with grapes and raffia. My Wine Lights became Vino Luci (the Italian derivative!). This new enterprise is fun as it’s all about those things I love. We don’t sell wine but great gifts for folks who enjoy drinking the grape and we’re a resource for several companies; assisting with their corporate gift giving. Additionally we hold local food and wine pairing events. I’ve temporarily closed the online store while I recover from a serious injury to my leg and expect to be back in operation by fall of 2010.
I’ve been fortunate to have been able to incorporate my own experience in building a blog to my web business and have become a resource for many other bloggers. I recommend self hosted WordPress software for client sites and can set clients up from the very beginning of the process through transferring sites from Blogger or the free WordPress site. It can be a complicated process and many bloggers recognize the need for professional expertise to insure their new site incorporates components that will not see them lose traffic or revenue. For some examples of those sites, please visit my portfolio at Kinetic Webs.
I hope you use this site to find a new recipe, learn more about some wines we’ve enjoyed and if you’re searching for a unique gift please let me know if I can help; we have wine accessories, bath and body products, gifts for the home, gourmet foods and a wide selection of gift baskets. Contact me for assistance.
Thank you for visiting…and enjoy!
